About Us

Project Love Run is a space for self-identifying women to run and have heart-centered discussions, sharing stories about how society complicates our relationships with our bodies and the sport of running.

Hey, I’m Filsan Abdiaman.

For years, I struggled to love myself whole—I thought I’d find my worth and love in a relationship, but when I found myself still searching at 29, I realized that the struggles I was experiencing (and that so many womxn face) were rooted in loveless societies— cultures that operate under oppressive systems that profit off womxn’s insecurities.

Fast forward to 2016 and after seeing all the goodness that running and self-loving brought into my life, I wanted to share some of that wisdom with other women.

On October 31 2016, I officially kick-started PLR with the theme of ‘Runaway Bride’. Since our launch almost 7 years ago we have covered a series of themes that have asked women to “Run in Love”– to rebel and reevaluate what we think of as running culture, how we show up in the running world, for ourselves and each other.

Oh, and I found new love when I was least expecting it.

After seeing a therapist to navigate my eating disorder in 2018, I vowed to write 100 love notes and run 100km to celebrate self-love.

And at the 100km race… I met my current partner, the most incredible human I feel so fortunate to call my best friend.

So as it turns out — when you stop searching for love and start working on yourself?

You start receiving what you deserve, on your terms.
