PLR Vancouver Presents: Running Bodies II

  • Sun Wah Center 268 Keefer Street Vancouver, BC, V6A 1X6 Canada (map)

Come through Sis, Join us for this important discussion...

Our Topic this Women's Month will take a closer look at the attacks on Trans rights, particularly in sports. Across the U.S. and beyond, policies are being enacted that restrict Trans athletes' participation, reinforcing rigid and exclusionary ideas of sex and gender. But these attacks are not just about sports—they are about power, control, and the policing of all bodies.

Discussion: On an athletic level, these restrictions create barriers to participation and challenge the very notion of fairness in sport. On a personal level, they shape how women relate to each other and feel at home in their bodies. When institutions dictate who is "real" or "worthy" of belonging, all women—especially those who exist outside dominant norms of race, body size, ability, or gender expression—feel the impact.

Our intention: we must move beyond centering cis women in conversations about gender equity. True liberation demands that we challenge the systems that attempt to define, categorize, and limit us. Through an intersectional lens, we’ll explore key questions of sex, gender, body autonomy, and belonging, and connect these themes to a larger political context.

Join us as we dive deeper and explore.

Run: Join PLR Founder Filsan for a 2km and 4km run/walk, followed with brunch.

Keep in mind... we meet you exactly where you’re at (no need to be a "runner") — just come as you are. And if cost is a barrier— please email: projectloverun@gmail.com, NO ONE will be turned away.
